Applying for on campus housing and registering for classes
When you are granted readmission, you should contact your residential college to inquire if there are spaces available in your college. When students return during the academic year, there is often a waitlist at the college for on-campus housing. You should prepare for this likelihood when you make your transition plans.

You will be given approval to apply for your courses for the semester after you have been granted readmission by the dean. You should log into your Esther account to register for your courses. If you are having difficulty accessing your Esther account, contact the Office of the Registrar.

Dates for medical readmission, when you should expect to hear from Rice
The deadline to submit your complete request to return is June 1st for the fall semester and November 1st for the spring semester. If you submit a complete request, you should expect to hear back as soon as the staff reviewing your request have time to process it and consult with the dean. Depending on the number of requests received, students generally hear back from the dean of undergraduates about a decision within four weeks of their request being made.

Planning for your return
Students who take the time to think carefully about their transition back to Rice are usually very successful when they return to the university.  We recommend that you take the time in advance to plan for your return and that you consult with your treating professionals, your family and others at Rice about your plans when you return.
