April Yang, LPC, LSOTP

April Yang joined the Rice Counseling Center in 2019. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and her graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Prior to joining the RCC, April provided individual, family, and group therapy to adolescents in diverse backgrounds with psychiatric and behavioral issues. In counseling, April endorses an eclectic approach, utilizing components from the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-informed counseling, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She is a current member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science – Southeast Texas Chapter. April is fluent in Mandarin and proficient in Cantonese. In her spare time, April enjoys traveling, subversive cross-stitching, cooking, feeding her cats, and collecting pop art paintings.
