Angie Severino, LPC

Angie is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (with a minor in Criminal Justice) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Before joining Rice in 2023, Angie worked in several diverse agencies such as the Denver Coroner’s Office as a death investigation intern, a sexual offender treatment center as a graduate clinician, and more recently, at Arrow Child and Family Ministries as a treatment foster care therapist and case manager. She has previously worked with at-risk children, young adults, and families on various concerns such as emotional dysregulation, stress and anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, relationship conflicts, and adjustment issues. She enjoys reading her growing pile of fantasy books, watching movies and anime, cooking/baking her favorite Filipino dishes, and playing with her mischievous dog. 
 

Professional Interests: trauma and resilience, nurturing the inner child for healthy adult outcomes, boundaries and self-compassion, mindfulness and play, cultural and familial nuances on mental health, the immigrant experience and children of immigrants’ experience.
