Aurora is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Master's degree from the University of Denver in International Disaster Psychology and her Bachelor's from Centenary College of Louisiana in Psychology. Before coming to Rice in 2026, she worked at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as a Safety & Stabilization Supervisor and Clinical Case Manager for Survivors of Torture, where she managed several programs, engaged in crisis response, supervised clinical staff, and provided holistic trauma focused services for Asylum Seekers and Refugees. Aurora has also operated her own private practice where she became an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and provided EMDR, grief focused, and nature-based therapy to her clients. She has extensive experience in grief and trauma work with other various organizations in her 10 years as a licensed clinician, including international work in Sri Lanka & South Africa. She loves traveling to new places, reading sci-fi/fantasy books, seeing live music, and hiking & skiing in the mountains whenever possible.
