Carolyn, a licensed clinical social worker, joined the Rice Counseling Center in spring 2025 as a Clinical Counselor. She holds degrees in Economics (Auburn University), Health Administration (Cornell), and Social Work (University of Houston). During her MSW program, she completed a clinical practicum at RCC in 2021, where she discovered her passion for working with young adults.

Carolyn completed her post-graduate fellowship at the Menninger Clinic and subsequently stepped into an associate clinician role, working with individuals facing acute and chronic mental health challenges. Before shifting into social work, she spent a decade in leadership roles at Texas Children’s Hospital, focusing on operations, patient care, and employee well-being.

Her therapeutic style is relational and insight-oriented, integrating Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mentalizing, RODBT, and Psychodynamic approaches. She emphasizes emotional exploration, cultivating curiosity, self-awareness, and building a strong therapeutic alliance to help clients connect with their inner strengths and wisdom.

Outside of work, Carolyn enjoys exploring her neighborhood, visiting coffee shops, working out, and spending time with her husband, son, and dog.
