Karin Simpson, LMSW

Karin is a Licensed Social Worker. She completed her Masters in Social Work from the University of Houston and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Baylor University. Prior to joining the Rice family, she worked at Lone Star College-Kingwood helping first generation, low-income high school students prepare for college. She was a case manager at a local nonprofit, A 2nd Cup, assisting women who were formerly incarcerated transition into their new lives. Karin has previously worked with Our Daughters House providing psychosocial education and support to girls aging out of the foster care system. Karin is fluent in Spanish and enjoys spending time with her family and fur-babies, reading books or listening to audiobooks, and traveling. 

Professional interests: first generation college students, self-care and self-compassion, establishing healthy boundaries, body neutrality, community engagement and outreach, empowerment and self-advocacy,
